Malawi govt commends TNM

Malawi’s Minister of Information and Technology and Communications, Nicholas Dausi, has commended TNM for pioneering innovative ICT products and services in the country.

Speaking at the official launch of TNM 4.5 G/LTE the Minister said advanced mobile and ICT services were crucial for tangible growth, and would make it possible for e-government projects to start taking shape.

TNM chairman Dr George Partridge said the latest TNM upgrades deliver a super-fast, reliable experience for customers.

Over the past 18 months, TNM invested over K22 billion (U$30 million) to upgrade its network.

In 2016, TNM commissioned 78 4G-LTE sites in the major cities of Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu and Zomba and in the first quarter of 2017, an additional 35 4G-LTE sites were deployed followed by another 31 sites in the month of June.

This was followed by the 4.5G Enterprise network upgrade to support 2K/4K video, virtual reality, telemedicine, and other new and emerging services.

The upgrades in the TNM network also enabled other new business services like Broadband Connect, Virtual Private Network (VPN), Microsoft Licensing, Business Connect, Customer Care Centre (CCC) and TNM Mobile WAN.
