DStv Kenya cuts HD decoder price by 48%
Leading Pay media provider MultiChoice Kenya has slashed the price of its DStv HD decoder by 48% from Sh4, 800 to Sh2,499 which will now be sold with a one month DStv Access Subscription - in what the company calls the ‘Deal of the Century’.
The decoder-only price special comes as the pay-media provider confirmed popularity of DStv content two months after Analogue Signal switch-off throughout the country.
According to MultiChoice Kenya General Manager, Mr. Walingo Chiruyi, The Deal of the Century will increase access to the premium content offered by DStv at an affordable price at the once in a lifetime offer of only Ksh. 2,499.
“At that price, subscribers will get a HD decoder bundled with one month free subscription on the DStv Access Package,” said Mr. Chiruyi.
DStv Access offers 50 quality channels of family entertainment combining general entertainment, movies, documentaries, news, children’s programming, music, religion and sport.
The DStv bouquet also offers unique premium channels such as Zee World, Mindset Learn and Channel ED which is not available on other digital TV providers. Among other channels, DStv Access features BBC World, SuperSport Select, Disney Junior, Aljazeera, National Geographic Wild, Fashion TV and the Free to air local channels.
Also available on the Access package is Africa Magic which offers content that showcases the best on the continent.
“As a proud supporter of Pan–African content and dedicated to serving African people, we are also determined to keep our programming fresh and yet cater to our viewers and support our local movie production industry through distribution of African films,” Chiruyi said.
According to Chiruyi, during the month of May, which is also Africa Month, DStv is celebrating by offering viewers more of the best local and African music, movies, drama and series for the whole family Sh2, 499.
“Besides DStv Access, we have other bouquets that cater for a diverse cultural and language market, that allow subscribers flexibility in pricing and choice including: DStv Premium, DStv Compact plus, DStv Compact, DStv Family which our subscribers can sign up for at any time,” he added.
The move by DStv is also a quest to continue with its support for the ongoing digital migration and allowing more Kenyans to have increased access to information according to Chiruyi.
“We urge the public to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity to access our HD decoders offering crystal clear pictures and high quality sound regardless of geographical location, and the most premium content in Africa,” he reiterated.
