Vodacom SA in 15-year Prasa deal

Mobile network Vodacom has entered a 15-year telecommunications partnership deal with the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) through its subsidiary Intersite Asset Investments.

The R1bn deal will seek to further monetise Prasa’s telecommunications assets through Vodacom Business’ enterprise channel capability such as virtual private network connectivity and hosted exchange platforms and will include the leasing of Prasa’s fibre optic cables and making them commercially available to government and enterprises through Vodacom's wholesale and carrier division.  Prasa has more than 900km of fibre along railway lines and at stations.
