VMware Forum looks at advancing to the cloud
The VMware Forum 2013, now underway at Gallagher Estate in Johannesburg, South Africa, is outlining to delegates the rapid growth of cloud computing in Africa, and the company’s growth strategy.
The Forum is today the premier event of the cloud computing and virtualization company, attracting more than 16,000 attendees across 27 events across EMEA.
At the Johannesburg customer event, which kicked off this morning, Matt Piercy Vice President, Northern Region, EMEA, VMware and Chris Norton, Senior Regional Director, Southern Africa, VMware, are elaborating on driving the IT organisation towards a Software Defined Data Centre (SDDC) and a Multi-Device Workspace.
The SDDC is one of VMware's latest business IT platforms, which the company says is revolutionising the way that organisations build, operate and manage their data centres and cloud infrastructure. VMware says adoption of cloud services, especially in larger enterprises, can be inhibited by issues relating to the security of the network and protection of corporate data. However, virtualizing security as well as the network can give businesses the edge they need to protect all aspects of their infrastructure, both cloud-based and physical.
