UK firm powers Gambia school

A UK energy firm is spearheading a project to install a solar-powered computer suite at a school in rural Gambia.

A team from Beechdale Energy has installed a solar power system at Sinchu Njaba Basic Cycle School in Sabach Sanjal in The Gambia’s North Bank Region.

The installation and classroom renovation paves the way for the roll-out of a computer lab, to be installed by the Carphone Warehouse.

The computer lab, with 10 work stations,  will be solar powered and connected via satellite. Beechdale Energy notes that its partners and affiliates have also supplied the school with sports kit, stationery and other donations.

The National Assembly Member for Sabach Sanjal Constituency, Honourable Ousman Bah, expressed gratitude at the gesture and described the philanthropists as true friends of The Gambia.
