Tigo CEO chairs Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications

The Governing Council of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunication has elected the Chief Executive Officer of Tigo Ghana Roshi Motman as the new Chair of the Chamber, the industry umbrella body for Mobile Network Operators and tower companies in Ghana.

Tigo was chosen at the Fourth Annual General Meeting of the Chamber held in Accra.

In a statement signed and copied to Biztechafrica in Accra on Monday by the Head of Communications at the Chamber Derek Laryea, it noted that Tigo takes over from MTN and will hold the position for a year. In effect, Roshi Motman, Chief Executive Officer of Tigo, will Chair the Governing Council of the Chamber.  The statement further revealed that Airtel’s Chief Executive Officer Lucy Quist, will serve as its new Vice-Chairperson. She takes over from Haris Broumidis of Vodafone.

In her acceptance remarks, Roshi said: “We are pleased that the Governing Council has elected Tigo to lead the Chamber.

“We look forward to working with other members to advance growth and development in the industry and address the needs of our customers.”

The Chamber was established in 2010 as the voice of the mobile industry to address issues of common interest, primarily policy, legislation and regulation, and promote the growth of the telecommunications industry in Ghana.
