Tigo Cash has been awarded "Best Mobile Money Product in West Africa" at the 2013 Kalahari Awards in Lagos, Nigeria.

This award is given to organisations that 'have made a significant contribution to the mobile financial sector and are poised to change the market landscape in the near future'.  Tigo Cash is described as unique in its sector because it can be received by anyone on any network, and over 600 claims from Tigo's Family Care Insurance product have been paid successfully through Tigo Cash since 2011.

The keenly contested Mobile Money category included telecommunication companies, independent mobile money providers as well as banks offering mobile money services, for which nine entries from five West African countries were shortlisted from several nominations.

Selorm Adadevoh, Head of Mobile Financial Services at Tigo Ghana, said: “For us at Tigo Cash, this is really just the beginning and we promise you, our valued customers several more innovations throughout 2013."

Tigo Cash has introduced several innovations recently to boost adoption – including a promo in December, when its most loyal customers were rewarded with Tigo Cash and hampers loaded with Tigo Cash goodies. Tigo Cash agents across the country also report that the product's success is far reaching. Several agents confirmed that they have grown their businesses through Tigo Cash, with Moru Ishawu, a Tigo Cash Agent in Daboya and Gertrude Fosu of Gadisco Business Centre, Accra Newtown both expressing their satisfaction with this innovative product.
