Telecel Zimbabwe CEO quits

By Alfonce Mbiswo, Harare, Zimbabwe

Telecel Zimbabwe chief executive officer Francis Mawindi has quit the mobile telecommunications company, nine months into the job.

Board chairman James Makamba said Mawindi quit his post last week to pursue other opportunities. Mawindi took over from expatriate Aimable Mpore in July last year.

John Swaim replaces him in the interim, while the company also appointed Angeline Vere as general manager from March 26.

Telecel is Zimbabwe’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers.
