TEAMS cable warns of downtime
Kenyan internet users may be affected by TEAMS cable maintenance tonight.
The East Africa Marine System (TEAMs) undersea cable is scheduled to undergo maintenance at its Mombasa docking station from 22:00 on Friday 6 January, until 10:00 on Saturday 7 January.
TEAMS General Manager Joel Tanui said in a statement that the cable operators apologized for any inconvenience this may cause.
AccessKenya has stated it is confident it will be able to offer untinterrupted service via other lines, while Safaricom has warned users that they might experience slower connections as a result.
Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Bob Collymore said in a statement: “Mitigation measures will be put in place, but some customers may experience slow Internet speeds and some level of service degradation during this period.”
