Tanzania readies for digital migration campaign
The Tanzanian authorities have selected a logo ahead of the campaign for a switch-over from analogue to digital TV.
In line with plans to migrate to digital TV by the end of next year, competitions were held for a logo and jingle for the marketing campaign.
Tanzania and other East African Countries have agreed to migrate to digital broadcasting ahead of the ITU's 17 June 2015 deadline, and Tanzania aims to switch off analogue TV services by 31 December 2012.
The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) announced that no winner had been chosen after a competition for a campaign jingle. However, a winning logo was selected from 71 entries in the logo competition.
The designer of the winning logo was James Sengerema, a student of the University of Dar es Salaam, who was awarded a Tshs. 5,000,000 prize.
The logo for digital migration is going to be used in all public awareness campaigns for the migration from analogue to digital broadcasting in Tanzania.
TCRA has already licensed three Multiplex Operators, Star Media, Basic Transmission and Agape Associates, who will be obliged to enter into service level agreements with the broadcasting stations.
