Ghana’s first Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network provider Surfline has been named among the top emerging brands for the year 2014 at the just ended third edition of the Top Brand Awards held in Accra.
The Top Brands Awards seeks to place Ghana’s brands on the global branding map. Other categories apart from the top 6 valuable brands were top emerging brand, fastest growing brand, most promising brand and top brands. Surfline Ghana, since its inception in the country five months ago, has chalked lots of achievements in rolling out successfully its high speed network LTE service Accra.
The wholly-owned Ghanaian company which invested more than $100 million for the first phase of the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network and has about 300 cell sites is expected to expand its services nationwide within two years. The expansion move is part of demands by the regulator, the National Communications Authority (NCA) as well as the company’s ambitions to meet growing demands for its services.
Meanwhile the company has launched the SurfPrise promotion, which will run during the Christmas period. The promotion is expected to increase the company’s subscriber base and reward existing ones. “Throughout the upcoming holiday season, new customers on Surfline will be welcomed with a ton of surprises, commensurate with the giving, gifting and sharing spirit which characterizes Christmas and New Year holidays in Ghana and all over the world. New customers will, upon buying a qualifying data bundle, get a FREE 4G LTE enabled device, with bonus data each time they purchase a data bundle from Surfline. Throughout the month of December, one lucky customer will walk away with a 4G LTE enabled tablet each week,” said Rosy Fynn, marketing director at Surfline. According to Ms. Fynn some three more stores have been opened in various parts of the Capital to meet the increasing demand.
