StanChart and MTN Zambia Partner on Zambia’s first digital bank
Standard Chartered and MTN Zambia have announced a partnership to reward clients who open a digital bank account with free data by leveraging on MTN Zambia’s customer management platform called Infinity.
Standard Chartered and MTN Zambia will reward every client who opens a new account via the Bank’s SC Mobile App with 3GB data. One simply needs to download the SC Mobile app, open an account and fund it with ZMW150 to qualify for the reward.
Following the successful launch of Standard Chartered’s first-ever digital bank in Zambia in 2019, additional features have been introduced onto the SC Mobile APP to make it even easier to open an account within 15 minutes from the convenience of one’s Smartphone.
According to the Standard Chartered’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing, Christine Matambo, “We are delighted to partner with MTN Zambia for our digital bank offer. As you know, Standard Chartered continues to be the only bank in Zambia with the capability to open a bank account, end-to-end via smartphone. Partnerships with mobile phone operators such as MTN, Zambia’s biggest network provider, serves to enhance the client journey and experience of our digital bank.”
She added, “It is simple to open a digital bank account – clients only need their NRC / Passport, TPIN and a selfie, which they upload onto the SC App and the account is opened in 15 minutes. We are the first bank in Zambia to offer end-to-end account opening, without the need to physically walk into a branch. We continue to be the only bank in Zambia to deliver the Debit card to client at a location of their choice in at least 48 hours, anywhere across Zambia! Even better, clients enjoy zero monthly charges and zero minimum balance requirement on the digital bank.”

Over 140,000 people have downloaded the SC Mobile App since its launch in June 2019; whilst the Bank’s Digital Bank Ambassador – Pompi – continues to work with Standard Chartered to raise awareness of the digital bank.
