SEACOM 90% up after another outage
SEACOM reports that it has fully or partially restored services to 90% of customers after another cable cut off Egypt.
Earlier this week, SEACOM reported multiple cable issues had affected numerous customers. The undersea cable company rushed to restore services and reroute traffic, announcing by Tuesday that its systems had been restored.
This news was followed by a statement that at 06:20 GMT on Wednesday, a SMW4 cable cut had occurred off Egypt. By late yesterday, SEACOM said it was again in the process of prioritising and reallocating already available capacity for customers, and was sourcing further capacity to re-establish full restoration.
Meanwhile, reports from Egypt indicate that an Egyptian coastguard patrol has arrested three divers who were caught tampering with undersea cable off Alexandria.
