NIRA urges .ng adoption
Nigeria’s Internet registration Association (NIRA) has stressed the need to populate the .ng domain with youth groups and MDAs.
At its AGM in Lagos, NIRA said there was a need to generate more awareness among Nigerian youth, community and government organisations to embrace the new .ng domain. Government agencies have been instructed to adopt the top level domain or face penalties.
The Chief Operating Officer of NIRA, Ope Odusan, said NIRA had already mapped out its strategies in the area of capacity building, business goals and business strategies to boost domain name registration in the country.
He said NIRA would review and update relevant policies such as registry/registrant/registrars policies, domain sales policies, and strengthen industry engagement in a bid to encourage more .ng adoption.
