NigComSat set for December launch
NigComSat, Nigeria’s newest communications satellite, looks set for a December 25 Launch.
The satellite, NigComSat 1R, will replace a previous communications satellite that was decommissioned in 2008.
It is expected to significantly improve internet connectivity options in Nigeria.
Preparations for the launch are reported to be well advanced and a roadshow is being staged to brief stakeholders and interested parties about the benefits of the satellite.
Earlier this year, two other Nigerian satellites were sent into orbit aboard the Dnepr rocket in southern Russia.
The NigeriaSat-2 and NigeriaSat-X satellites were successfully launched from Yasny in southern Russia. Another satellite, NigComSat-1R is due for launch in the last quarter of this year.
