New ICT protocol for Egypt electricity

Atef Helmy, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Ahmad Mostafa Shaaban, Minister of Electricity and Energy, have signed a three-year cooperation protocol to use ICTs to improve the electricity sector in Egypt.

This comes within the framework of implementing ICT strategic plan, which aims to use ICTs to improve operations of all the entities and ministries of the state.

The renewable protocol aims to improve and upgrade electricity and energy services through ICTs.

The project will include employee training, technical support and applications such as an electricity emergency service "hotline 121", and activating mobile technology applications and SMS to provide services to consumers.
