New ICT Minister for Zimbabwe

By Alfonce Mbizwo, Harare, Zimbabwe

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has named former Media and Information Minister Webster Shamu as Minister of ICT, with Jonathan Moyo replacing him in his former post.

Shamu, a former broadcaster, replaces Nelson Chamisa of the Movement for Democratic Change, the former coalition partner with Mugabe’s ZANU-PF in the previous regime.

The ICT portfolio has been expanded to include postal and courier services.

Jonathan Moyo was named to his former position as information minister, eight years after he was fired from the post for disobeying a party directive. Journalist and ZiFM owner Supa Mandiwanzira was named as his deputy.
