MTN Ghana Foundation marks seven years of CSI in Ghana
MTN Ghana Foundation is marking seven years of outstanding and impactful Corporate Social Investments in Ghana. Since its launch, in November 23rd 2007, the MTN Ghana Foundation has brightened lives by undertaking significant CSI projects devoted to improving the welfare of individuals and communities across the country.
The impact of 95 major projects and other life changing interventions completed by the Foundation in the areas of education, health and economic empowerment has been felt by more than two million people in all 10 regions of Ghana. Many people are enjoying better lives because of the Foundation’s investments.
More people in rural as well as urban communities now have access to improved healthcare, thousands of expectant mothers can now deliver in hospitals close to their communities and many lives have been saved as a result of critical medical equipment made available by the Foundation. Children who used to sit in dangerous dilapidated structures now attend classes in comfortable, safe environments and tuition scholarships have sponsored the education of hundreds of needy children with inadequate sources of funding. Our list of achievements are outstanding; that is why we are one of the most awarded Foundations in Ghana.
In the space of seven years, the Foundation has invested over GHC 15.5 million in building school blocks, libraries and ICT centers, enhancing teaching capabilities, constructing and equipping hospital wards, paying tuition and supporting entrepreneurship. 57 major education projects, 30 health and 8 economic empowerment projects have brightened lives and made a great difference in communities and advanced socio-economic development in Ghana. The Fondation’s flagship project, Heroes of Change, was launched in 2012 to encourage altruism in our communities.
Commenting on the anniversary celebration, the Executive Director of MTN Ghana Foundation Mrs. Cynthia Lumor noted that the Foundation has indeed positively impacted the lives of many in Ghana. We remain committed to investing more to make a difference in our society everywhere we go.
“As MTN Foundation celebrates these achievements in Ghana, we take this opportunity to thank our cherished customers for their wonderful and valuable contributions to the growth of this organization. Together, we have brought the MTN Ghana Foundation this far, and we look forward to many more years of working together to give back to our communities,” she added.
