MTN Ghana continues to make giants leaps in the country’s telecom industry, maintaining its lead in Mobile Voice Subscription service.
According to a recent report released by industry regulator, the National Regulation Authority (NCA), MTN witnessed a massive upward adjustment in its voice subscription for the month of December, 2015.
This is a giant leap from November’s figure of 15,950,876 to 16,254,984, representing an increase of 1.91%; the total market share for the month under review was 46.43%
The National Communication Authority indicated that at the end of December 2015, the total number of mobile voice subscribers had increased from 34,400,153 in November 2015 to 35,008,387, and the total penetration rate for the month under review was 127.63%.
MTN Ghana’s giant leap in its voice subscription services for the month of December 2015 came as no surprise to industry observers and stakeholders, especially when it won in the same month, the bid from the regulator to roll out 4G LTE services on the 800MHz spectrum in the country.
This development, coupled with other innovative initiatives including the registration of MTN’s 15 millionth subscriber on its network may have help boost confidence in the MTN brand as it promises to deliver a bold digital experience to customers.
Biztechafrica can confirm that plans are far advanced for the piloting of MTN Ghana’s 4G service in some parts of the country by some selected subscribers. If it proves successful, the service will officially be launched in July this year. This will then place Ghana’s leading telecom giant, MTN, in the third position as a 4G service provider.
It’s believed that with the coming of MTN Ghana’s 4G services, many Ghanaians will be hooked up onto the digital grid and thus making data affordable and cheaper to the ordinary person on the street and also promoting the usage of more data.
