With a signal from the Chief Executive Officer of MTN, Selorm Adadevoh, 100 students selected from the country’s public universities received part payment of their scholarship funds on their hand held mobile devices as part of the MTN Bright Scholarship initiative at a colorful event held at the famous MTN House in Accra.

Speaking during the awards ceremony, Mr. Adadevoh noted how MTN through the MTN Foundation has touched more than four million lives with an amount of over US$13.5m invested in 147 projects, and pledged MTN’s continue support to enhance the productivity of Ghanaian youth.
“We are particularly proud of the fact that we have touched the lives of more than one thousand one hundred students over the past two decades with our various scholarship programs and are humbled by the impact this has had on the lives of people such as you and on their communities at large,” he stated.
“Our continued support to the youth of Ghana to enhance your productivity is something I pledge to all of you, and we will continue to make this a priority for MTN Ghana and the MTN Ghana Foundation,” he CEO added.
Urging the students to take advantage of their scholarships to excel in their various academic endeavors, the MTN Ghana CEO also took the opportunity to plead with them to make sacrifices which he said ‘is a fundamental investment for “entitlement”.
“Hard work is a sacrifice and not all of you will be willing to make this sacrifice, I do hope after today, that those of you on the fence, make the commitment and see that these types of opportunities may only ever come your way once – if you don’t make the best of it, you may never have the opportunity again in your lifetime,” he emphasised.
Out of the 300 brilliant students beneficiaries of the MTN Bright Scholarship initiative this year, 100 of them received packages which will take care of their tuition, accommodation and a stipend for books and other educational materials
Last year, the Foundation also awarded 100 students from the public universities in the country and in 2020 the last batch of 100 students will be awarded similar scholarships.
