MDAs may be sanctioned over .ng

The Nigerian government is reported to be considering penalising federal ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) that fail to migrate to the .ng domain name.

MDAs have been ordered to change to the .ng domain, which has seen lackluster adoption since it became available. Fines of up to N500,000 can be imposed on MDAs that refuse to make the switch.

The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA), says there has been slow response to its appeals to “Switch to .ng”, despite ongoing campaigns urging agencies and private sector companies to do so.
