Marsh acquires Alexander Forbes Risk Services in Zambia
Marsh has announced the acquisition of Alexander Forbes Risk Services’ operations in Zambia.
This transaction follows Marsh’s acquisition earlier this year of Alexander Forbes’ South African insurance broking operations, Alexander Forbes Risk Services (AFRS) and related ancillary operations, as well as Alexander Forbes’ insurance broking operations in Botswana, Namibia, Malawi and Uganda.
Jurie Erwee, CEO of Marsh Africa said: “We are delighted that our previously announced African expansion plans are advancing so well. Zambia is a very important part of our African strategy. The country’s proximity to South Africa, as well as its rich natural resources and strong economic development make Zambia a most attractive market. We look forward to contributing to its continuing growth through the provision of our specialist resources across the full spectrum of insurance broking and risk advisory work.”
Brian Blake, Vice Chairman of Marsh Africa, said: “Our new team in Zambia is well placed and resourced to support the country’s development, especially in such major economic sectors as mining and energy. Our strategy will be to draw upon Marsh’s global industry and placement skills to enhance the service we offer local companies. In addition, clients will benefit from the broad range of risk management expertise Marsh Africa already provides companies across the sub-Saharan region.”
Lwimba Phiri, Head of Marsh’s operations in Zambia, has been identifying areas in which to deploy Marsh’s extensive experience and resources locally and is excited about the future. “By bringing Marsh’s deep industry expertise and insurance market knowledge to bear in support of Zambia’s enterprises and organisations, we commit to making Marsh the country’s preeminent insurance broker and risk advisor,” she said.
