Mark Bannerman named Country Manager for Red Hat in Sub-Saharan Africa

Red Hat, the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, today announced the appointment of Mark Bannerman to country manager for Red Hat in sub-Saharan Africa.

As country manager, Bannerman will be responsible for management and growth of Red Hat across all sub-Saharan countries. He will play a key role in promoting brand awareness locally, in addition to driving customer knowledge of Red Hat's comprehensive solutions. Bannerman brings with him extensive understanding of the local SSA economy and environment.

Bannerman joins Red Hat from MicroStrategy, where he held the position of country managing director. With a career spanning more than 22 years, Bannerman has held leadership roles at many notable technology companies including SAP, Business Objects, Polygon Systems and IDCS.

Highly skilled in enterprise-level sales, in addition to the management and growth of software and consulting organizations, Bannerman has historically been focused on applications such as Enterprise Resource Planning and Customer Relationship Management. Recently, however, he has grown more interested in business intelligence, analytics, mobility, social and mobile personal identification solutions. “We are delighted to have Mark join the team. He is a veteran of the IT industry and his excellent track record in the development of technology companies is exactly what we are looking for to increase brand awareness and partner engagement across sub-Saharan Africa. We see great opportunities in this region, and Mark's arrival comes at a perfect time for Red Hat in the region,” said Michel Isnard, Vice President, Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa, Red Hat

"Joining Red Hat is an exciting opportunity for me. At Red Hat, a leader in enterprise class open source software, I look forward to applying my experience and knowledge to help Red Hat increase its footprint across sub-Saharan Africa. Red Hat’s enterprise open source technology is very useful to end-users as it carries a strong value proposition. I’m eager to play a major role in Red Hat's success in the region, especially with cloud, middleware and mobile," Said Mark Bannerman, Country Manager, Africa, Red Hat.
