Kenya SIM reg deadline looms

Kenya’s regulator has stepped up its awareness campaign ahead of a deadline of 31 December for the registration of mobile SIM cards.

The Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) aims to coordinate the disconnection of unregistered SIM cards on 31 December, in a move similar to its switch off of counterfeit handsets earlier this year.

CCK Director General Francis Wangusi says the regulator wants to ensure that all SIM cards are registered by the end of this year.

Registration can be done at service provider outlets and via SMS.
