Jumia targets 6m visitors, engages vendors for Black Friday

Online mall Jumia says it is targeting six million visitors during this year’s Black Friday promotion.

It therefore urged its vendors to get prepared for bountiful harvest and prepare to offer unique prices to customers to attract turnover.

Engaging the vendors ahead of the event scheduled for between November 14 and 26 at its office in Ikeja, Lagos at the weekend, Head, Public Relations at Jumia, Ojuolape Asuquo, said there was need for customer education, engagement and enlightenment on the part of the vendors, adding that a lot of customers will be shopping on the platform for the first time during the bumper sales promo period.

According to her, customers who download the application and shop on the site will be entitled to free data so long as the device being used is running on MTN network.

Meanwhile, a vendor and CEO, Fadesh Global Resources, Sarumi Abiola, thanked Jumia for organising the forum, adding that it will give the vendors opportunity to address all their technical and non-technical concerns.

He expressed readiness to take advantage of the sales period to make more sales and boost his business.

Ojuolape said Jumia has invested massively on the project, adding that it is going to be a win-win for the firm, the vendors and the shoppers.

About 130 sellers have so far registered to participate in the promo fiesta while registration closes November 7.

The firm urged vendors to get prepared, employ temporary workers, stock assortment of high quality goods, make provision for reserves, do unique pricing model and ensure operational excellence.
