Jumia Ghana intends selling 15,000 Smartphones in Jumia Mobile Week 2018

Ghana’s premier eCommerce firm Jumia says it plans to sell about 15, 000 smartphone devices to consumers as part of its Black Friday Mobile phone event, dubbed Jumia Mobile Week 2018. What this means is that Jumia will be giving out mouth watering discount hovering around 80 percent on all smartphones during the promotion week as compared to the 2017 40 percent discount rate.
The event, which is schedule to take place from the 19th to 25th of March, 2018 is expected to make smartphones devices very affordable to consumers and scale up the penetration rate of hand held Smartphone device in the country.
Speaking to Biztechafrica in Accra, the Head of Marketing at Jumia Ghana, Joseph Owusu Badu, revealed that Jumia Mobile Week which enters its second year in 2018 will be held simultaneously in countries where Jumia operates across Africa.
According to him during the maiden edition of Jumia Mobile Week in 2017 over 1.5 million smartphone devices were sold across the continent and with the success of last year event, new targets have been set for 2018 and in Ghana 15,000 hand held smartphones of various brands are anticipated to be sold at very attractive and affordable prices to Ghanaian consumers.
“So in 2017, we actually sold 1.5 million smartphones in Africa, and this is across countries including Nigeria, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Egypt and Kenya. In most of the market where we operate we were the first online platform to introduce the latest editions of almost all the well known brands on the market,” he said.
