IT-IQ champions managed services for Batswana

IT-IQ Botswana recently announced to members of the press its 20-year milestone celebration of being a trendsetter and pacemaker in the technological development of Botswana. “Our main objective at IT-IQ Botswana has always been to advance and grow the ICT landscape in Botswana, and make a sustainable contribution in bringing innovative solutions to the country” said Managing Director at IT-IQ Botswana, Vish Sethi.  For two decades, the wholly citizen-owned company has impacted professionals in the industry and has maintained customer centricity in service delivery of IT solutions to businesses in other industries.

“My vision for the company back then was to diversify from being a primarily IT training company and introduce the concept of managed services and specific solutions that were unavailable in Botswana at that time. Managed Services are a set of IT services offered to customers on a proactive and interactive basis where we, the service provider, are more involved and accountable for the overall uptime and performance of your IT infrastructure. These are usually backed by Service Level Agreements or SLAs that are tailor made for our customers.”

As a result, IT-IQ Botswana pioneered the introduction of managed services in the SMME Sector. “Our first client few clients were Barloworld Motor and Avis, today we have an extensive list nationally. Our clientele spans small businesses with single offices to multi-national corporations and mines with large and complex IT environments.

In the last 10 years the company has also introduced ICT solutions in areas of WiFi, Collaboration, Cloud services and Information Security based on industry leading vendors and partners such as Microsoft, Cisco, Ruckus Wireless, FORTINET, VMWare, Oracle to name a few.

“We have never steered from our base offering of ICT training and testing which lie at the heart of everything we do. As a Microsoft Silver Learning Partner, a CompTIA Silver Training Partner and a  (Botswana Qualifications Authority BQA accredited ETP, we are honoured to have been instrumental in the development of ICT professionals in Botswana for the last 20 years.

The MD told biztechafrica that people came first in whatever they were planning. “The growth of our business is insignificant without the growth of our people and communities. Job creation and skills development are one of our nation’s biggest challenges. To this end we have grown our staff from 6 in 2009 to 58 today and expanded our footprint through 4 additional offices. We offer free professional certification training and testing to all employees as part of our internal development and individual growth plan. Developing our staff and ensuring that the highest levels of skilled engineers (to international standards) are made available to our customers is entrenched in our vision and core values. At IT-IQ Botswana we believe that it is crucial for us to make a positive impact on the communities in which we operate and on all our interested stakeholders.

To this end we are committed to the following: Developing ICT Skills in our community by engaging in student attachment programs and Government internships that will help in reducing graduate unemployment in Botswana by offering vocational skills to graduates.

Support disadvantaged communities by offering free education to help improve digital literacy levels, which is an essential life skill, to help bridge the digital divide and help communities actively participate in a technology- oriented society.”
