Key Takeaways:
Apple’s budget-friendly iPhone model – SE – is rumored to be getting a massive design overhaul this year. It has been a little over a while since we heard anything about the iPhone SE and the latest version, iPhone SE 3, came out in January 2022.
iPhone SE 4 To Sport Similar Rear Panel Design As Upcoming iPhone 16
Fresh new rumors making rounds suggest that the upcoming iPhone SE 4 could ditch the dated look of the iPhone 8 that we had been accustomed to for something similar to the forthcoming iPhone 16.
According to prominent Apple tipster Fixed Focus Digital, the more affordable iPhone is going to be using the same rear chassis manufacturing process as the flagship iPhone 16 series, which will launched in September.
While this does not mean that both phones will be identical, there may be certain similarities in terms of dimensions and styling. Previously leaked renders of the iPhone SE 4 showed that it might adopt the iPhone 14 design, with flat edges and a single real camera.
iPhone SE 4 Gets FaceID, Notch Design, Dual Rear Cameras, And OLED Display
Other reports suggest the iPhone SE 4 could sport dual rear cameras, arranged vertically, similar to the iPhone X that came out in 2018. The dual camera setup would be a notable upgrade for the SE lineup, which has traditionally had only a single sensor. While there is not much information on the specifications of the SE 4’s camera, rumor has it that it could offer better low-light performance or telephoto features.
Design-wise what will differentiate the iPhone SE 4 from the iPhone 16 will be its front, with the former getting the classic notch housing the front-facing camera and FaceID, without the TouchID home button, while the latter gets the Dynamic Island design that we have been seeing lately.
One reason why Apple has chosen to go with a modern design similar to the iPhone 16 is to save costs and be more efficient.
The iPhone SE 4 is slated to be released early next year. The phone is also expected to get an OLED screen like its premium siblings. However, it is unclear which chipset Apple will be using in the phone.
Apple Expected To Bump Up Prices of iPhone SE 4 Models
This could also mean that the new SE model could be priced a little higher than its predecessors. The iPhone SE 3, which was the cheapest iPhone on sale, started at $429 when it was launched.
According to reliable leaker “@Revegnus1”, Apple could either price the iPhone SE 4 at the same price as the iPhone SE 3, or it could see a hike of around 10%. What has been confirmed is that Apple won’t be charging over $500 for the budget iPhone.
However, Apple may go forward with higher regional pricing for the iPhone SE 4. The leaker noted that the SE 4’s price will increase by around 15% in Europe and other countries, regardless of what it may be selling for in the US.
iPhone SE 4 Will Be Launched in Early 2025
The iPhone 16 will be launched way ahead of the iPhone SE 4. The flagship phones will be announced in September and include four models – the standard iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Renders and dummy units of the upcoming iPhones have already surfaced, showing a new rear camera design on the standard models, and a slight increase in size for the Pro and Pro Max variants.
The iPhone SE 4 is expected to be released early next year.
Latest news: iPhone SE 4 is expected to be launched between January and April 2025.
