Glo Ghana confirms closure of shops and cell sites

Ghana’s fifth mobile network operator, Glo, has finally confirmed the closure and decommissioning of some of its shops and cell sites in the country after months of keeping customers in suspense.
The Head of Activation at Glo Ghana told journalists at an event held in Accra and monitored by Biztechafrica that the closure of shops and decommissioning of cell sites in some part of the country were all part of strategies to position Glo’s operations well to serve customers.
Glo Ghana’s performance over the past fourteen months within the telecom industry has been abysmal leading to the closure of about 15 out of its 25 outlets across the country, leaving subscribers in these affected areas to their fate.
These unfortunate developments on the part of Glo have compelled most subscribers to either port their Glo number to another network or subscribe to another network as an alternative.
Information gathered by Biztechafrica reveals the closure of Glo Tamale office which serves the three Northern regions, the Techiman Glo shop in the Brong Ahafo Region, Ho and Aflao shops in the Volta Region, 3 out of 4 Shops in the Ashanti region, 3 Shops in Western Region and Greater Accra Region which initially had 12 shops now has 7 shop dotted within the Accra metropolis.
Unfortunately in the Eastern Regional capital of Koforidua, the only Glo Shop that serves the whole region has been shut down.
Some Glo subscribers in Kaneshie, one of the busiest business district areas in Accra who spoke with Biztechafrica narrated how shocked they were to find out that the only Glo Shop serving their area had been closed down leaving them with no option than to travel to Nima Junction on the Ring Road to access a Glo Shop.
With little or no communications to customers before the closure of some of its outlets in town, Glo Ghana is now back, this time not to apologise to its customers for the inconvenience caused but rather to introduce four new products for customers.
