Ghanaian students given free ICT Academy access during Pandemic

Huawei Technologies in Ghana has advanced its ICT Academy by introducing a new initiative, ‘Huawei Study at Home Program’, focused on equipping students with the needed technology and educational materials to enable them to take the Huawei ICT Certifications Programme online.

According to the Enterprise Director at Huawei Ghana, Mr. Geoffrey Li, the initiative will offer a seamless training and learning experience with trained Ghanaian lecturers online and certify students to make them industry ready, even when universities and schools are closed.

Mr Li added “Students will be trained on how to operate and use Huawei equipment through HCIA to develop talents with practical skills for the ICT industry and communities.” All who enrol for the courses will receive free data.

The Vice President of Ghana Technology University College, Prof. Abeiku Blankson explained that while academia focuses mostly on theory, the Huawei ICT Academy is structured to give students a feel of what actually happens in the field.

“Our partnership with Huawei on this is mostly driven by our desire to give our students the opportunity to gain some necessary skills while getting them to be market-ready and the innovative ‘Huawei Study At Home’ program will allow them to do that from the comfort of their homes during this period where schools are closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.” Prof. Blankson added.
