Gambia urges SIM reg
With less than 6 months to its national SIM registration cut-off, Gambia is urging stakeholders to enhance the process.
The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) has briefed the national Assembly and held a workshop for the media in a bid to speed up the registration process.
The Director General of PURA, Abdoulie Jobe, said PURA in collaboration with GSM operators have embarked on a training programme for customer care staff on monitoring and review of the implementation strategy to enhance the registration process.
Jobe told journalists at a sensitization workshop that SIM card registration was mandatory and that unregistered SIMs would be cut off on 15 June 2012.
He called for more information to be made public so that citizens would understand the importance of the exercise.
