Expresso Senegal appoints new MD
Hani Osman El Hassan has been appointed as the new Managing Director (MD) of Expresso Senegal to breathe a new life into the company by implementing a new orientation, reports from the capital Dakar said this week.
Osman El Hassan, who officially took up the position on 5 April 2021, will have a mammoth task of consolidating the mobile operator’s presence in this West African nation.
Expresso Senegal is a subsidiary of the Expresso Telecom group, which is headquartered in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. The company has been operating in Senegal since 2007.
As MD of Espresso Senegal, he will be in charge of driving the new direction of the brand and ensuring that his knowledge of the telecommunications industry can stimulate the organisation’s business performance, the company said.
"Our goal is to revitalise the company from the inside and consolidate our presence in the national market. We will work on improving the 4G network, as well as the quality of our network in general,” he said in a statement.
“We will shake up the market with innovative service offers, such as e-SIM, for both consumers and businesses, and we will push the company forward.”
The appointment comes against the backdrop of the operator’s launch of its 4G offers last month. A breakthrough which the company said marked its presence in broadband as it aims to conquer the Senegalese market.
Expresso has also invested in the project to install the fiber optic submarine cable, and is considering its autonomy in the internet segment. The mobile operator has made major investments in 4G installations throughout last year, managing a feat of 350 4G sites that are currently operational in the country.
The company is also the first operator to launch e-Sim in Senegal. Unlike the classic Sim card, e-Sim is a blank memory chip pre-installed in mobile devices that allows the same use. To activate it, one needs to simply download it using a security QR code offered by the operator.
