Dimension Data enters Ghana’s IT market

Dimension Data, a global leader in ICT solutions and services provider has announced its entry into the Ghanaian ICT market with a resolve to build and develop locally relevant solutions to help its Ghanaian clients, accelerate their business ambitions.
The South African-based company which now operators three unique brands namely Dimension Data, Plessey and Internet Solutions, is currently the world’s largest security systems integrator by revenue of about 570 million dollars with over 5,000 security clients and more than 500 dedicated security personnel in 52 countries.
With over 30 years experience in building networks as the platform for all communication and IT, Dimension Data believes that the Ghanaian market will play a key role in its growth journey.
With its inception in Ghana, Dimension Data group has employed 37 permanent Staff in Ghana and plans are underway to increase its system integration skills and expertise over the next 12 months, providing opportunities to young local talents.
Dimension Data has been operating in West Africa market for a decade through its subsidiary Plessey, and in both Nigeria and Ghana through Internet Solutions.
Speaking at a media briefing in Accra, the Executive for Dimension Data Middle East and Africa Emerging Markets Division, Rakesh Parbhoo, noted that the group has had a significant stunt in emerging market, with presence in countries in Africa, Asia , Middle East and South America.
He said Dimension Data understand the intricacies on how to deliver complex technical solutions leveraging local skills, local capabilities and supporting local clients, local institutions and government agencies.
Ghana’s Minister of Communication Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, who graced the occasion with its presence commended Dimension Data for entering the Ghanaian market challenging them to invest in Ghana as they have successfully done elsewhere.
“I look forward to your team delivering innovative services to organizations in Ghana, turning their ambitions into achievements, and thus contributing to the transformation of the lives of our citizens, growth of our economy and to large extent Africa’s transformational agenda” he noted.
According to the World Bank, information technology and the highly visible construction sector now account for half the country’s national income. This is in addition to gold, cocoa and oil which continue to dominate Ghana’s exports.
