Deputy Minister: Ghana cyber security strategy in development
Ghana’s National Cyber Security Policy and strategy are under development, says the Deputy Minister for Communications, Victoria Hamah.
Speaking at a Ghana Network Operators’ Group (GhNOG) workshop in Accra, the Deputy Minister noted that an agreement had been signed with the International Telecommunication Union earlier this year to help develop a national Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), to react rapidly to security threats that may affect the national security and well-being of Ghanaians using the internet.
The establishment of the CERT with a national Computer Incident Response Team will provide Ghana with the necessary capacity and technical capabilities to build a national point of contact to respond in an effective manner to cybercrimes and cyberattacks.
”This project demonstrates the commitment of Ghana to unleash the full potential of ICT by ensuring security in cyberspace and building trust and confidence in the use of the Internet,” said Minister of Communications Edward Omane Boamah.
