Airtel Zambia CSR wins award
Airtel Networks Zambia Plc has been honoured with the overall award of the Zambia Public Relations Association’s (ZAPRA) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program of the year. The company has also scooped the ‘Best Social Media Campaign of the Year’ for it’s Go For It youth targeted promotion.
The two awards were presented to Airtel Networks Zambia at the 2014 Zambia ZAPRA annual Awards in Livingstone.
Airtel Zambia was recognised for its outstanding CSR initiatives including the Adopt a School programme and the staff volunteer programme – dubbed We Care -17 days of CSR.
Airtel Managing Director Ms. Charity Chanda Lumpa said she was proud of what her organisation had achieved thus far and was humbled to note that ZAPRA could recognise some of Airtel’s many achievements.
“We are humbled to be recognized by ZAPRA and I believe that these awards are true testimony of what we stand for as an organisation,” Ms. Lumpa said. “We are passionate about creating value for our customers as well as exceeding their expectations. Airtel is committed to making a difference in the communities that we operate in because we would not be here without our loyal customers who continue to support our business.”
Early this year, Airtel received two other CSR awards, from the Zambia Environmental Management (ZEMA) who awarded Airtel with the coveted ‘GREEN’ Award as proof of the company’s promotion of sound environmental management practices and the 2nd Award from PMR Africa who voted Airtel as the Outstanding Company in the good corporate citizenship category.
The annual ZAPRA awards ceremony are held to recognize companies and individuals who have excelled and exemplified themselves in public relations, communications and brand building programmes.
