Airtel plans seamless EA mobile money
Telecoms operator Airtel plans to integrate its East African mobile money services to offer seamless cross-border payments.
Airtel is in the process of creating a cross-border mobile money service between Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
With Airtel mobile money services already widely in use in Tanzania and Kenya, Airtel has now upgraded its service in Uganda, and is awaiting regulatory approval to integrate the systems across borders, said Michael Okwiri, the vice president for Corporate Communication at Airtel Africa.
Airtel mobile money services include transfers, payments, airtime top-ups and ATM transactions managed via mobile.
