Airtel Money Spreads Wings

In a bid to continue offering all-round convenience and promote financial inclusion in Zambia, Airtel Mobile Commerce popularly known as Airtel Money has launched international money transfer services into Kenya and Uganda.

Airtel Money customers can now send and receive money from Airtel Money customers in Kenya and Uganda.

Other Airtel to Airtel international money remittances include Rwanda, Tanzania and Malawi; making Kenya and Uganda the latest inclusions.

Airtel Money Director, James Chona said in Lusaka today that the launch of the new international money transfers to East Africa will complement the COMESA trade ambitions.

“We are very excited to now have added Kenya and Uganda to the list of countries that Zambian customers can easily send money to. We know that we are a global village so people have family and friends almost everywhere in the World, so with all these opportunities people are able to connect through the sending of money in the comfort of their homes,” Mr Chona said.

Adding: “We believe that international remittances into East Africa through Airtel Money will boost trade and contribute to economic development of both Zambia and the countries involved. This development is important because the unserved and underserved business people will be able to participate in international trade.”

Customers can make their international transfers by dialing *778#, selecting option 1 “Send Money”, and then option 3 for “International Transfer”.
