Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Communication, Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo

Bharti Airtel has expanded its rural coverage in Sierra Leone.

The company said its mobile unit, Airtel Sierra Leone, had expanded its coverage to the entire Tonkolili district. Earlier, it rolled out to the Sahn Malen region in the Pujehun District in the south.

In launching the new coverage in Mabonto village in Tonkolili district, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Communication, Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo, described it as a great moment for the area, which had been under-served for too long.

He highlighted the importance of rolling out communications to rural areas across Africa.

Airtel now has 27 sites across the country.
