4th Ghana Telecom Awards to recognise contributions to Ghana’s ICT sector

The organisers of the Ghana Telecom Awards have revealed that this year’s awards will recognise ICT enterprises that have played an important support role for the telecoms sector in the country.
This year’s 4th Ghana Telecom Awards ceremony, which will be held at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra today, has become the benchmark for outstanding performance in the Telecommunication industry and a symbol of excellence to mark leadership, quality and innovation.
Akin Naphtan is the Group Publisher of Mobile World Magazine, organizers of the award and he told Biztechafrica that certain individuals will also be recognized for their immense contribution to the development of ICT in the country.
“We try to lift the veil and reward individual personalities that have contributed so much to the success of the industry, that should happen on the night. And see people that have been investing in the sector will be rewarded for their performance and the commitment to the industry."
Mr. Akin also commended the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunication for their contribution to this year’s awards and also ensuring that deserving institutions and individuals are recognised for their contribution to the telecoms sector.
“The Telecoms Chamber has supported us immensely, becoming involved in the process to ensure the nomination of the winner is done in a transparent manner.”
Meanwhile leading Ghanaian banks GT, Fidelity and Zenith have been nominated for this year’s Ghana Telecom Awards Best Technology Advanced bank of the Year and Best Use of Mobile Technology in Financial Services categories. Other nominated banks in the aforementioned categories are Standard Bank, UT Bank and Ecobank.
