2bn people now on Facebook

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that there are now two billion people connecting and building communities on Facebook every month. Additionally, more than 175 million people share a “love” reaction and on average, over 800 million people “like” something on Facebook monthly, while more than 1 billion people use Facebook Groups.

Globally, over 150 million people give love on Facebook each day, and in EMEA, over 45 million people give love on Facebook each day.  More than 750 million new Facebook friendships are formed each day around the world, over 180 million of them in EMEA.

To mark the 2 billion milestone, Facebook announced that it would share several personalised experiences over the coming days:

-          A new personalised video will be launched to celebrate bringing the world closer together. Users may see their video in their News Feeds or by visiting  www.facebook.com/goodaddsup.

-          Facebook will celebrate the good people do by launching a new feature that responds to certain actions by thanking them. After someone reacts to a friend's post with love, wishes someone happy birthday, or creates a group, they will see a message in their News Feed thanking them.

-          On www.facebook.com/goodaddsup, Facebook is featuring fun facts about how people are contributing to the community. In the US, Facebook is also sharing stories of inspiring people who connect with one another, contribute to their local communities, and help make the world a better place.
