ZESCO in power saving drive

Zambia’s electricity authority is offering free energy saving bulbs to citizens in a drive to reduce energy consumption across the country.
Offering ‘six for six’, ZESCO will give each person six energy saving bulbs in exchange for six conventional incandescent bulbs at outlets across the country.
ZESCO says it has introduced the energy saving bulbs as part of an initiative to save energy and contribute to mitigating the powerdeficit the country has been experiencing.
ZESCO notes that energy saving bulbs, also known as Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs), consume up to five times less energy and can last up to fifteen times longer than conventional incandescent lamps.
