Ever wondered what Zimbabweans get up to when they switch on their computers every morning?
It turns out the most frequently requested search term on Google by Zimbabweans over the last year is the social networking site, Facebook.
The rest of the top ten searches reveal no surprises – it’s a mix of newspapers and e-mail websites like Gmail and Yahoo.
But Google Insights for Search, which registers the most searched terms by region and country, turns up surprising information about Zimbabweans’ internet behaviour when they are searching for images online.
Over the past 12 months, Zimbabweans have been furiously punching their keyboards searching for Beyonce, BOOTY, Rihanna, LOVE and GIRLS.
Refining the booty search, it turns out a lot of us are searching up terms like ‘onion booty’, ‘ghetto booty, ‘ebony booty’, ‘African booty’ and ‘black booty’.
But we are not just a nation obsessed with women’s rears. It turns out, according to Google, we have romantics among us.
A refined search for ‘love’ reveals that most Zimbabweans who search for that term are looking for information on ‘how to love’, ‘love lyrics’, ‘love quotes’, ‘love making’, ‘love poems’ and even ‘love SMS’.
The Google image search trends also show that thousands of Zimbabweans are looking for ‘ebony girls’, ‘hot girls’ and ‘black girls’.
