BUSINESS
By BiztechAfrica - Dec. 31, 2010, 11:26 a.m.A group of Egyptian IT firms who participated in the Gitex 2010 event in Dubai report that they expect deals totaling USD8 million as a result of their participation.
Twenty Egyptian companies participated in the exhibition. Twelve of them reported later that they had had fruitful meetings with visitors to the event, and expected significant deals as a result.
Two companies of the 12 said they expect deals that could hit USD4 million; one of them participated in GITEX for the first time under sponsorship of Egypt’ s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).
Egypt’ s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) said ITIDA took part in GITEX 2010 for the fifth successive year in 2010, as part of its ongoing efforts to open up new prospects for the Egyptian exports of IT products and services in various world markets, including the Gulf.
These efforts are in line with the strategy adopted by the MCIT to enhance the country’
s exports of IT products and services to hit the target of USD1,1 billion by the end of this year.
