Uganda eTax extends to vehicles
The Ugandan Revenue Authority (URA) has extended its eTax facilities to include vehicle registrations.
The URA introduced eTax, an online tax filing and payment system, four years ago. To date, the authority says it has collected around Shs 7 trillion in taxes via the system.
URA's Manager: Business Analysis, Myra Ochwo says to date, over 130,000 electronic Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TINs) have been issued.
URA says in an attempt to ease transactions further, URA has introduced a new module under eTAX of registering vehicles. Citizens can now use the online gateway to register, transfer and deregister a vehicle.
