Uganda BPO centre set for launch

By BiztechAfrica - Sept. 5, 2012, 1:06 p.m.Uganda’s Communications Minister has visited the country’s new BPO centre ahead of its official launch later this month.
Minister Ruhakana Rugunda and the NITA Board, headed by its chairman, Dr Francis Tusubira, toured the new business process outsourcing facility at Statistics House recently.
Through NITA, the Government aims to support and develop Uganda’s BPO sector.
In line with the government’s BPO roadmap, NITA has trained 500 BPO agents, developed incentive guidelines for BPO operators and built the 250-seater BPO centre at Statistics House, where 750 people will be employed. The centre will be officially launched on 20 September.
