Third Cameroon licence attracts bids
Several international firms are reported to be in talks for the third mobile operator licence in Cameroon.
With South Africa’s MTN and France’s Orange Telecom already operational in the country, the government is making a third licence available.
Among the companies reported to be interested in the concession are Monaco Telecom and Vietnamese military-owned operator Viettel, while Bharti Airtel said earlier this year that Cameroon was one of the areas it would consider expanding into.
The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Jean-Pierre Biyiti bi Essam, says the Ministere des Postes et des Telecommunications is in the final phase of negotiations with interested parties.
