Technology for agriculture project unveiled in Uganda

The Ugandan Government has announced a new five-year project to use modern techniques and technologies to improve farming.

Speaking at the 20th Source of the Nile Agricultural and Trade show, now underway at the Jinja show grounds, the Minister of Agriculture, Tress Bucyanayandi, announced that the new project, 'Agricultural Technology and Agribusiness Advisory Services (ATAAS)’, will cost around USD665 million.

MTN Uganda sponsored the agricultural show, where it took the opportunity to showcase services such as its mobile money services.

This year, the event’s focus is on smart farming for sustainable food security.
