Senegal tops 88% mobile penetration

By BiztechAfrica - Oct. 11, 2012, 6:14 a.m.Senegal’s Agence de Regulation des Telecoms et Postes (ARTP) says mobile penetration has passed 88% in the country.
In its most recent statistics, for the second quarter of this year, the regulator says the total number of mobile phones in Senegal exceeded 10.712 million, up from 9.38 million at the same time last year.
The total number of fixed lines stood at 343,012 - a penetration of 2.82%.
The country had 528,358 internet subscribers by the end of June this year – most of them using 3G accounts. 375,556 were mobile internet users, and 95, 412 were connected to ADSL lines.
