Science, technology get focus in new Nigerian education plan

Science and technology enjoy a greater focus in a new four-year strategic plan launched by Nigeria’s Federal Government.

The Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’I, launched the Government’s new four-year strategic plan document for the development of the education sector at a workshop in Abuja.

Among the planned improvements are the rehabilitation of science and technical laboratories, a new approach to Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) and the promotion of Technology and Science Education. In line with this goal, the Minister announced the creation of a new Department of Technology and Science Education in the Federal Ministry of Education.
