SA’s big telcos prepare to launch LTE

By BiztechAfrica - Oct. 4, 2012, 10:58 a.m.South Africa’s major mobile operators say they will likely switch on LTE services before the end of this year.
With various pilot projects underway, Vodacom, MTN, Telkom’s 8ta and Cell C have all said they are likely launch LTE services within the next few months.
LTE is the fastest new standard for wireless data transmission, promising to deliver download speeds up to 10 times faster than a 3G connection.

What spectrum they going to launch LTE in. ICASA still to launch a plan with the 2.6 GHz. The spectrum needs a band replan because Sentech and Iburst sit in the middle of the band.
